James N. Knight
Education and Military Service
I graduated from Vanderbilt University on a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps scholarship with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. Upon graduation, I was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy and spent eight years as a Naval Aviator, flying helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft on assignments throughout the United States and the world.
During my military service, I earned a Masters’ Degree in Management from Troy State University. I knew however, that I would attend law school and I matriculated at the University of Florida College of Law days after leaving the Navy. While at the University of Florida, I was the Articles Editor of the University of Florida Law Review and I earned my law degree with High Honors and Order of the Coif.
Legal Experience and Client Commitment
After graduating from the University of Florida, I associated with the Irvine office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, an international law firm of 1,000 attorneys. My practice was dedicated to complex business litigation and I gained experience in a number of substantive areas of law, including antitrust, securities, bankruptcy, labor and employment law and class actions.
While at the firm, I represented Fortune 100 clients in a myriad of industries, including commercial real estate management, pharmaceutical manufacturing and health care benefits. I represented these clients in a variety of forums, including federal and state courts and alternative dispute resolution proceedings throughout the United States.
In 2009, I formed my own law firm in Irvine, California with a simple goal: To provide sophisticated legal representation to individuals and companies in the areas of corporate and employment law and litigation, and do so with a common sense and cost-effective approach to each engagement.
Like my clients, I am focused on results. My experience encompasses a broad array of substantive law and I will work with you to obtain the best result possible. My experience describes me, but it does not define me.
An attorney is more than a mouthpiece – he is an integral part of your business planning and the protector of your interests. My firm is based on this principle and I look forward to discussing how I can assist you.
Community Involvement
I believe that attorneys should be involved in the community and the local bar. To that purpose, I am currently involved in a number of different civic and legal organizations, including the Warren J. Ferguson American Inn of Court at Chapman University College of Law, and the Orange County and American Bar Associations. I am also a member of the Orange County Regional Leadership Council for the Special Olympics Southern California and was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County.
